It's official! The 2019 winner of the UTMB, Pau Capell joins the Private Sport Shop team of athletes!
Between an already full schedule of races in 2022 and a personal challenge on the GR221 in Mallorca, the ultra-trailer becomes the main ambassador of Private Sport Shop in Spain.
A race program that promises to be "ultra".
After a meniscus operation last July, Pau Capell was unable to defend his title at the 2021 Mont Blanc Utra-trail, but will return to Chamonix in 2022 (August 22-28) for a summit duel with Kilian Jornet.
In total, the Spaniard will tackle no less than 15 races including 5 ultra-trails this year: the 128 km Transgrancanaria (Spain), the 100 miles Patagonia Run (Argentina), the 125 km Lavaredo (Italy), the UTMB and the 110 km Ultra Pirineu (Spain).
An end of the year on the GR 221
In December 2022, Pau will once again travel on the GR 221 from Majorca.
With a length of approximately 283 km, this long-distance path, also known as the dry stone route, crosses the Balearic island in its most rocky part, skirting the highest peaks of the Serra de Tramuntana.
If the terrain is technical, combining high peaks, cliffs, Mediterranean scrubland paths, without forgetting the strength of the north wind - the Tramuntana -, Pau Capell will not be going into unknown territory since last December, it was in only 3 days that the Private Sport Shop athlete had completed more than 160 km and 8000m of positive difference in altitude on a part of the GR 221 route
This year, the challenge has been updated: complete the entire course in record time! YEPAAA !
