Women in the Mountains Festival : When the summits are conjugated in the feminine

From November 9th to 13th, the Femmes en Montagne film festival will welcome the public for 5 days of film screenings in Annecy and Talloires.

28 films selected from the 80 that applied will be shown during seven screenings in Annecy and Talloires for the Women in the Mountains Festival 2022. A busy program that will highlight independent films and shorts that trace the adventures and journey of inspiring women in the mountains. New for this fourth edition, a base camp is set up in the heart of Annecy with video workshops and meetings.

Neve Corsa:

This short film is the story of Noémie Equy, Thalie Larochaix and Art Simondetti's trip to Corsica last winter. Between life in a van, snow search, freeride and splitboard, it's a memorable roadtrip where they combine vanlife with their passion. It's also a tribute to the person who gave them the love for snowboarding.

4000m beyond the pain

The ascent of the Dôme des écrins with psychically handicapped persons The mountain is a formidable therapeutic mediation. It allows to reach an awareness of oneself and one's body. It reactivates an identity process, the feeling of existing, of having a place. It is a "re-connection" to the sensation of pleasure and to the sensation of desire. Access to walking and climbing reactivates the primary sensory processes and allows sufficient support for the patient to access individuation. It is a means of accessing feelings, physical sensations, self-awareness / development of the psychic evening. The operation "4000 meters beyond the evils" proves that each one can go to the end of its dreams. With 11 months of physical and mental preparation, it presents another image of psychiatry and its patients. It promotes solidarity between people with disabilities and able-bodied people.

The Wall - Climb for Gold 

The Wall - Climb for Gold follows four top climbers, Janja Garnbret, Shauna Coxsey, Brooke Raboutou and Miho Nonaka, over the course of two extraordinary years. They battle through Olympic qualifying events to earn their place in Tokyo, facing a grueling season of competition and training before everything is put on hold when the Covid-19 pandemic forces the Games to be postponed. As the young women face their own mental and physical demons en route to Tokyo, the film reveals a stunning and inspiring insight into what it takes to be an Olympian and, ultimately, what it means to be human.

Climbing Iran

Nasim is a free climber, the only woman able to open new routes in Iran. She faces a double mountain to climb, both physically and culturally, as her passion clashes with strict policies regarding women's freedom in her country.

Pasang: In the Shadow of Everest

Transcending cultural barriers and constantly going against the grain, Nepalese mountaineer Pasang Lhamu Sherpa attempted to reach Everest four times in the early 1990s. Although she was not allowed to go to school as a child, Pasang continued to believe in her dreams. After starting her own trekking business in Kathmandu, she led the way for Nepali women by attempting to climb Everest. Proving that it is possible to go far to achieve your dreams, she has left a legacy not only for the family she left behind, but also for the countless women who follow in her footsteps.

More than a route

Abandon old habits, discover new ways". The documentary "More than a route - A climbers journey to a new mindset" accompanies environmentalist and top climber Lena Müller on her Ecopoint Tour. She travels 350 km and 5100 m of ascent by bike to climb two dream routes. Giving up the car becomes an extremely enriching experience: "Time, space, people, everything becomes important".

Ascending Afghanistan: Women Rising

A poignant documentary account of a group of Afghan women with a passion for mountaineering who brave the prohibitions of their society to live their dream and prove their worth to the world of men.
