The Private Sport Shop ambassador took advantage of her injury in recent weeks to launch her own web series.
Johanne Defay has been unable to surf since sustaining a foot injury last December, so she decided to tell the story of her daily life in her new series "With JoJo", the first episode of which was unveiled earlier this week (watch it in full below). From now on, we'll be following the Private Sport Shop ambassador more closely at World Tour events, as she finally returns to the circuit this week for the fourth round of the World Championship.
It took Johanne Defay several weeks to fully recover from three broken metatarsals in her right foot ("the tip of my shoe scraped the ground and all my weight fell on it" she explains in this first episode of "With JoJo"). This was followed by six weeks of immobilization and a withdrawal from the first stages in Hawaii (a first for the Frenchwoman, who had never before suffered such a lengthy injury). After several weeks of rehabilitation at the CERS in Capbreton, she gradually returned to the water on the spots of Reunion Island, before heading back to France to tackle more powerful waves.

The Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach is the opportunity to see Johanne in action against the best surfers in the world, she who finished last season in third place in the world. Launched last night, the competition has so far not smiled to Johanne, who was dominated by two Australians on his first series (Macy Callaghan and the world number one Molly Picklum). Sent to the repechages, the French surfer will face next night (if the conditions allow it) the Australian title holder Tyler Wright and the Brazilian Tatiana Weston-Webb. The rest of the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach can be followed live on the website of the WSL.
