La Nuit de la Glisse is back this season with the Human X series, directed by Thierry Donard. This year, we head for the Alps, Tasmania and French Polynesia for breathtaking images of extreme sports.
In 1984, director Thierry Donard unveiled the first film released under the "La Nuit de la Glisse" label. An ode to extreme sports that continues 40 years later with the cinema release of the latest opus in this mythical saga. This year, audiences will be able to see the second part of the Human X series in cinemas from November 3 to 19. Before the simultaneous release in Europe on November 8 and 10 only, the film will be previewed on eight dates (to be discovered at the bottom of the article).
"Human X II" takes us to the four corners of the globe, from the Alps to the waters of Tasmania and French Polynesia. The young snowboarder Zian Perrot-Couttet makes a mystical solo ascent of the Aiguille Verte, illustrating his personal quest to surpass himself. In the air, Swiss speedriders Ueli Kestenholz and Dominik Wicki, accompanied by Savoyards Valentin Delluc and Ugo Gerola, take on the dizzying slopes of the Valais Alps. In the water, Australian surfer Laura Enever fascinates us with her big-wave surfing. And it's in her homeland, on the famous spot of Shipstern Bluff in Tasmania, that she takes on water monsters. In "Human X II", the Australian also sublimates the Teahupoo spot.
Finally, it's impossible to discover a new opus of La Nuit de la Glisse without images of snow-covered mountains, where Thierry Donard excels in sublimating the talent of riders. And it's in Chamonix, the cradle of alpinism and high mountain sports, that viewers can savor the magical images of local trio Sam Favret, Zian Perrot-Couttet and Gaspard Ravanel, who, with the help of their paragliders, renew the exploration of the great classics of the Mont-Blanc Massif.
A Short Film Festival will also be held to coincide with this year's Nuit de la Glisse. This mini-festival of short films, under the La Nuit de la glisse label, is designed to encourage promising directors by showing their work in cinemas. A great opportunity for the public to discover the talent of tomorrow's directors. This year, six short films will be screened alongside the latest edition of La Nuit de la glisse.
Eight major launch events are planned with the presence of the athletes and Thierry Donard, before being shown in cinemas everywhere on November 8 and 10. See you at this address to reserve your tickets for one of this season's screenings:
