The end of Johanne Defay's "Off Season With Jojo" series, which enabled us to follow France's top surfer during the off-season, spent mainly at home in La Réunion. In the latest episode of the series, she looks back at the 2023 edition of the Kafrine DoFé Contest, which took place on November 12 on the Roches Noires spot. The competition focused on young female surfers, with the aim of introducing locals to a surfing contest and identifying new talent on the island. In pairs, each pair (a child under 18 and an adult) was able to enjoy the waves of this Reunionese spot, with VRR (Vigies Requins Renforcées) deployment. This grand premiere for this friendly contest organized by the Saint-Leu Surf Club and Johanne Defay took place in ideal conditions for the discipline. Supported by Private Sport Shop and Johanne's other sponsors, the Kafrine DoFé Contest was a great success. Over the next few weeks, Johanne Defay will be fine-tuning her preparations for the upcoming World Championships. The first World Tour event is scheduled from January 29 to February 10 on the legendary Banzai Pipeline in Hawaii. Third in the world in 2022, the Frenchwoman had a more complicated 2023 season due to an injury sustained at the start of the year. Finally 11th in the overall rankings, the Frenchwoman from Reunion hopes to be back at 100% for the new season.
