Key dates for outdoor sports in 2022

Surfing, mountain biking, trail, climbing... Here are the dates not to be missed in the national and international outdoor sports calendar in 2022.

Trail

This year, the UTMB World Series Events begin on February 12 with the Tarawera stage in New Zealand. This will be followed by 14 other stages before the grand finale in France during the UTMB, which will be held from August 22 to 28, where the best runners in the world traditionally meet.

Another international trail circuit is the Golden Trail World Series, whose 2022 edition will be based on three key events (Zegama, the Mont Blanc Marathon and Sierre-Zinal).

It is in France that the MTB World Cup will live its first stage of the 2022 season. After an Olympic year in 2021, the international circuit organized by the UCI will be the main objective of the French riders, including Loïc Bruni, who will try to keep his position as world number one in downhill (DH) after winning the overall World Cup in 2021, and Loana Lecomte, who will try to do the same in cross country (XCC and XCO). Another must-see event for our Blues will be the World Championships in Les Gets, France, from August 24 to 28.

On the freeride and freestyle side, the Red Bull Rampage will take place in October, although the exact dates are not yet known. Finally, the Crankworx World Tour will be the traditional circuit of the world's best freestylers who will meet on three stages in Innsbruck (Austria), Whistler (Canada) and Rotorua (New Zealand).

Surf

It is in Hawaii on the famous Pipeline spot that Johanne DefayPrivate Sport Shop ambassador, will start her 2022 world championship. She will face 17 other female competitors during the season, while 36 men will compete for the supreme crown. This year, no French surfer will be part of the elite. The final of the season next September will bring together the 5 best men and women who will compete in this final event that will determine the 2022 world champions.

Climbing 

After a first Olympic experience in which participated the Mawem brothers (they are also Private Sport Shop ambassadors), the best climbers in the world will meet on 12 different sites in 2022 for the World Cup. Each stage will have its own program of bouldering, speed and difficulty. France will be on the 2022 calendar next July for two events in Chamonix and Briançon.

Ski / Snowboard

Five stages will mark the 2022 Freeride World Tour season. As tradition dictates, Verbier will be the finale of this reference freeride circuit next March and April. New this year, the stage of Baqueira Beret in Spain makes its appearance.
