The Private Sport Shop ambassador reveals his hellish descent on this legendary enduro mass start.
Normally, the Mégavalanche de l'Alpe d'Huez offers an epic 20 km descent with 2,600 meters of vertical drop. But this year, weather conditions prevented the start from the traditional Pic Blanc glacier at an altitude of 3,300 metres. Only the training runs (see the video below of Kilian Bron on one of his starts) were able to take place on snow at this height, while the qualifications and finals were contested lower down, where the snow was no longer present (at least, in smaller quantities).

"Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions, we didn't start from the summit for the final race," explains Kilian Bron, present on the front line at the start of this Mégavalanche and as usual with the aim of playing for the win. "It's always a bit frustrating, even more so with the snow conditions of this 2024 edition. But it was great during our training sessions. We still managed to enjoy this Mégavalanche. Thanks to all the riders, the organizers and the public." Below is the Private Sport Shop ambassador's full run with his comments on each of the strategic parts of this race.
Kilian is also currently on tour to present his film Dolomites. We Rock Sport spoke to you a few months ago. Le rider has already organized 10 dates, including one in Whistler, Canada, where each screening was sold out. A final date will be held in Paris - Cinéma Max Linder, on September 26. Kilian is now gearing up for a video trip to Norway, before heading to Bolivia to shoot a third major documentary.
