French mountain biker Kilian Bron captivates us with his video shot in the beautiful region of Cappadocia in Turkey, between fairy chimneys and hot air balloons.
"It's like riding on meringue". Kilian Bron has already set the wheels of his mountain bike on thousands of trails around the world, but the new ambassador of Private Sport Shop got a taste of an unlikely spot in Turkey during the shooting of his latest video entitled "Follow the light".
Accompanied by director Pierre Henni, photographer JB Liautard and drone pilot Pierre Dupont, the 29-year-old French mountain biker takes us on a four-minute hypnotic journey through the heart of Cappadocia. A region with atypical scenery, whose sky is regularly filled with hot air balloons, carrying on board tourists who come to admire these lunar landscapes.
On the ashen earth of this semi-arid region of central Turkey, the Commencal rider plays with the fairy chimneys, the cone-shaped rock formations found in Göreme's Valley of the Monks. In this landscape forged by volcanic eruptions and erosion, the play of light in the early morning and at nightfall is yet another opportunity for Pierre Henni and Kilian Bron to deliver sublime images.
While the end result of two weeks of filming seems clear-cut and makes you want to put the wheels of your bike down, Kilian tempers the ardor of those who would like to do the same. "These canyons stretch as far as the eye can see, but the real dilemma was to find a line that was passable by bike," he explains. "From a distance, everything looks doable...But things get tricky once you get there." Particularly when it comes to shooting at a specific time of day in the hope of playing with daylight.
"We attended every sunrise and sunset. These slots were important for making images, which brought out the reliefs and colors, just as we had imagined. Wherever we went, we experienced magical moments, full of emotion".
And for those who missed them, here are two of Kilian's latest videos, including his famous Tour de France of the most beautiful spots, shot on the cliffs of Étretat, the Dune du Pilat, in front of the Chambord castle, the Mont-Saint-Michel or the Pont du Gard.
The La Clusaz-born mountain biker also tackled the dusty slopes of a volcano in his "Chasing Volcanoes" video. A 12-day trip in which Kilian and the film crew set off on a sailing boat to the Aeolian Islands north of Sicily, some of which are home to active volcanoes. Between lava eruptions, seasickness and sulfur fumes...
