Winner of the Mountain of Hell, Kilian Bron was very close to win the Megavalanche too. Back on these two enduro mass-starts with the Private Sport Shop ambassador.
Until now, no one had managed to do the Mountain Of Hell and Megavalanche double in the same year. However, Kilian Bron came very close this year. The French rider was involved in both enduro mass-starts and had an idea in the back of his head when he put his plate on his bike for the Mountain Of Hell, held in Les 2 Alpes.
In this 21st edition, which took place on July 4th (after an event cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic), Kilian started in the final alongside 631 pilots (including 10 girls and 13 nationalities represented). Traditionally, the start of this race is given at an altitude of more than 3,000 meters on the snow of the 2 Alpes glacier, before a 2,300 meter descent. Kilian got off to a good start and was immediately positioned in the top 10. He then went on to put in a crazy run, which we'll show you below in full.
Winner of this Mountain of Hell, Kilian Bron battled throughout the descent with Baptiste Gaillot (who we rarely see on the picture) to finally win by a small margin of nine seconds in the village of Venosc where the finish was located. This is the third victory of the Haut-Savoyard on this race, who followed up a week later on the Megavalanche of Alpe d'Huez in the hope of achieving the first double on these two events. And it's an understatement to say that the start of this race was eventful... We let you discover Kilian's run on camera and in full below.
Second in this Megavalanche 2021, the Commencal rider came very close to a huge achievement. But he never managed to catch up with Swiss rider Stefan Peter, winner of this race in which 452 riders participated. 23 seconds behind the winner of the day, Kilian Bron is once again on the podium of this mass-start enduro and can be satisfied with a start that he anticipated well on the snow of the Pic Blanc, unlike the many competitors ahead of him who almost all crashed on the snow wall of the first turn.
