COMMENCAL: FROM ANDORRA TO THE SUMMIT OF WORLD MOUNTAIN BIKING

If the names SUPREME DHFRSMETACLASH or even ABSOLUT you've come to the right place. Born in Andorra, in the heart of the Pyrenees, Commencal has established itself in just a few years as one of the world's leading mountain bike brands. With its distinctive visual identity, uncompromising commitment to the field and a strong presence among the world's top riders, including Frenchman Kilian Bron, Commencal has forged its path between performance, passion and innovation. Today, Commencal joins Private Sport Shop to make its vision of mountain biking accessible to an increasingly demanding community of sportsmen and women.

A brand against the tide

Founded in 2000 by Max Commencal, the Andorran brand has always had a clear ambition: to create uncompromising mountain bikes, where performance acquired in competition meets the pleasure of riding machines with character... and it's been going on for over 25 years. By opting early on for aluminum when others swore by carbon, Commencal has made the choice of durable, accessible construction rooted in reality.

But the company's strength lies above all in its relentless commitment to the field: the bikes are designed, tested and proven in the most demanding conditions, both in competition and freeride. Their successes in the DH World Cup and on Kilian Bron's committed lines speak for themselves.

ALUMINIUM AS A SIGNATURE: a technical, ethical and committed choice

At Commencal, aluminium is not a choice by default. It's a conscious choice, a mastered know-how and a deep conviction. This modular material offers unique responsiveness in frame development, allowing precise adjustments to meet the expectations of the most demanding riders.

But it's also a strong environmental commitment. Unlike carbon production, which is often deleterious for workers (as far as we know, carbon workers in China, Vietnam and Burma breathe solvents and dusts that are particularly harmful to their health, all day long) and the environment, aluminum offers a more responsible life cycle and is infinitely recyclable. An ethical choice.

Frames are made by hand, optimizing every joint, every tube, every cut and every finish. A Commencal frame is the result of hundreds of stages of production, reflecting true craftsmanship combined with high technology. In fact, the cost of these aluminum frames is higher than that of most carbon frames. In other words, reducing a bike to a single material, with the belief that aluminum rhymes with entry-level and carbon with high-end, is a shortcut that doesn't reflect reality.

Finally, it's also a sporting choice. And the figures speak for themselves: over the 2021, 2022 and 2023 World Cup DH Elite seasons, aluminum bikes will win 31 out of a possible 44 races, all brands combined.

AN ESTHÉTIQUE TRANCHÉE, A PHILOSOPHYÉE

Commencal doesn't go for consensus. Whether in the design of its frames, its radical communication or its commitment to eco-responsibility, the brand asserts a raw, assertive, almost punk style. It's this authentic positioning that unites a close-knit community of enthusiasts.

This same radical approach is found in our athletes and ambassadors. Kilian Bron, in particular, perfectly embodies the Commencal spirit: exploration, audacity, creativity. His spectacular videos around the globe are declarations of love for mountain biking that's alive, uninhibited and limitless. As for Amaury Pierron, Loris Vergier, Myriam Nicole and many others, they never stop winning podiums and victories throughout the year.

COMMENCAL x PRIVATE SPORT SHOP: A NEW ÉTAPE

It's only natural that Commencal should land on the Private Sport Shop on May 14th. A collaboration born of a meeting of two worlds driven by the same desire: to shake up the codes of sport. A partnership that makes all the more sense in that both brands support Kilian Bron for over 6 years now.
