The birth of NNormal
"Having the opportunity to design it with someone like Kilian is truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance: the marriage of performance and individual responsibility is totally in our DNA. We complement each other perfectly: Kilian brings his expertise in product development and his vision of what we can do for the environment, while we bring our entrepreneurship, shoemaking expertise and creative know-how," says Miguel Fluxa, Camper CEO and fourth-generation member of the founding family.
A committed B Corp company
Beyond words, the brand takes action to care for people and the planet. Since its creation, Nnormal has been certified B Corporationcertification, one of the most demanding international labels, recognizing committed companies that integrate high social and environmental standards into their organization. Certification is the assurance that the company is committed to working towards creating a better world.
NNormal is also a member of the 1 % for the planet organization and donates at least 1 % of its annual gross sales to environmental causes that benefit the planet. Finally, by supporting the Kilian Jornet Foundation, it also works to preserve mountain environments by supporting research into the disappearance of glaciers and organizing various educational projects.
In the space of two years, NNormal has made its way, one step at a time. Like running after all.
SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS
In order to reduce its impact, NNormal reduces the size of its collections by, for example, offering unisex options wherever possible. Products are only improved when better materials are found or new features can be incorporated while reducing the product's impact. Always less. Never more.
The concept of circularity is also at the heart of the brand's strategy. It's not enough to create more sustainable products and sell them in a one-way project. This means that every product created must be functional, durable and repairable. The more durable a product is, the less it will be replaced, and the less impact it will have on the planet. Kilian Jornet, for example, has covered more than 1,300 km and 70,000 meters of ascent with his first pair of Kjerag shoes, whether on the piste, on the rocks, on trails or off-piste.
Even so, every product will eventually reach the end of its useful life. With this in mind, NNormal has launched its No Trace program. The aim? Take back products that are no longer of use to you, and try to refurbish them, repair them for resale or destroy them for recycling. Find out more about the program ICI.
AT THE SERVICE OF PERFORMANCE
A true icon, Kilian Jornet has dominated the world ski-mountaineering and trail running scene for over 15 years, winning every major race and competition. A multi-skilled athlete, he has also set speed records on various peaks, including a double ascent of Mount Everest.
His daily life as an athlete enables him to test the durability and performance of his brand's products in real-life conditions. His last two major projects: Into the (Un)known which saw him link up all the main Pyrenean peaks over 3,000 metres (177) in just 8 days. Alpine Connectionsa historic crossing of the Alps, taking in 82 peaks over 4,000 meters in 19 days.
COLLABORATION WITH PRIVATE SPORT SHOP
As the year draws to a close, Kilian Jornet's brand comes to Private Sport Shopa partnership that makes all the more sense since theofficial announcement the Montpellier-based company's B Corp certification. On October 26, a selection of NNormal products will be offered to the platform's 16 million members.
