The Private Sport Shop ambassador once again won the World Cup this season at Leogang in Austria.
It's been a near-perfect start to the season for France's Isabeau Courdurier, who took another victory at the Enduro World Cup, held this weekend in Leogang, Austria. After a second-place finish in Italy to open the World Cup, the Private Sport Shop ambassador followed up with victory in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, by a tiny margin of 0.236 seconds! A victory not enough, however, to take the overall lead. After the final weekend in Austria, scene of the third stage of the season, the Frenchwoman is now the World Cup leader.
And unlike Isabeau's intense battle with England's Harriet Harnden on her victory in Poland, there was no contest on this third stage of the year, dominated head and shoulders by the Lapierre driver. In the lead from the very first stage, she opened up a huge gap of 13 seconds on her closest pursuer (Ella Conolly) and 19 seconds ahead of her rival Harriet Harnden. The dominant Frenchwoman then went on to set the fastest time on most of the day's specials, finally winning by 37 seconds over her rival Harriet Harnden. The gap confirms that Isabeau Courdurier will be relentless in her quest for a fourth world title this year (see her run in the final stage of the weekend below, from 11'33'').
In the overall standings, Isabeau Courdurier takes the lead with a total of 1405 points, against 1332 points for England's Harriet Harnden. In third place was another British rider, Ella Conolly (1024 points), ahead of France's Morgane Charre (1012 points). The next stage of the World Cup will take place in France, with a big weekend of mountain bike events. From June 28 to 30, 2024, the resorts of Megève and Combloux will host all disciplines, including downhill, cross-country and enduro. It's an opportunity to support the French riders, including Isabeau Courdurier, who is hoping to confirm her position as leader in her discipline on home soil.
